Book cover

I chose to have this image of the hand coming out of the bed as my front cover image. I feel that the message within this image is the idea that being dyslexic can sometimes be a nightmare. This idea I have tried to feed through my book by using 3 images using the same setting of this bedding through my book. As I use this idea throughout my book I felt it necessary to use it on my front cover too. This image however does not say everything about my book, it does not show some of the funny things I have tried to explore within my book so I would hope people would be surprised to see the rest of the images in the book.

I chose the front cover to have a dust jacket across it. Excluding the image the dust jacket is black I felt that this works well next to the image which I chose. The subject of dylexia can sometimes be a dark issue which I have reflected in the front cover. I have chosen the font 'FayesMess' for my front cover. I chose this font because it has a childlike quality to it, because of the way that  spell it is almost like I am a child so I wanted this to be reflected in the font I used for my front cover. Also I used child like play to create many of my images within the book. The other reason I chose this font was because I found it very easy to read. The script was not spirally or too complex making the words more difficult to read. This font is also quite bold so stands out from the background so is another reason for why it is easier to read.

I chose the title Blurred Words because that is what the topic of my book is about, sometimes the words are blurred and I can not make sense out of it. I have centred the title in the middle of the picture, under the hand as I feel it was an apropriate place to place the text without covering too much of the image.

When creating the title using Indesign I  was able to make sure the lettering was spaced out to how I like it and so that the words were not too close together. I chose to use the exact same font on the spine of the book but just changed the font size to keep some continuity within the front cover.

When placing my image on the front cover I made sure that my image went right to the bleed line so that I knew that the image on the front would be a full bleed image.
